Scar Tissue Massage

Accelerate Scar Healing & Improve Mobility

What is Scar Tissue Massage?

Scar Tissue Massage is a specialised therapy designed to help reduce the buildup of scar tissue following surgery or injury. By using gentle, targeted massage techniques, our physiotherapists work to break down adhesions, promote healing, and improve tissue flexibility. Scar tissue can restrict movement and cause discomfort if left untreated, but with proper massage therapy, you can regain better mobility, reduce pain, and improve the appearance of the scar.

How Does Scar Tissue Massage Work?

After surgery or injury, the body produces collagen to heal the damaged tissue. This process can lead to the formation of scar tissue, which may be thicker and less flexible than the surrounding healthy tissue.

Scar Tissue Massage works by:

Breaking Down Adhesions: Targeted massage techniques help to break down the collagen adhesions, allowing the tissue to become more pliable.

Increasing Circulation: Gentle pressure helps to increase blood flow to the area, which supports healing by delivering nutrients and oxygen.

Enhancing Mobility: Regular massage helps improve the flexibility of scar tissue, reducing stiffness and restoring a better range of motion.

Reducing Pain and Discomfort: By addressing tightness and releasing trapped nerves, scar tissue massage can help alleviate pain associated with post-surgical and post-injury scarring.
