What is Facial Gua Sha
Facial Gua Sha is a holistic beauty treatment rooted in the ancient principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, designed to improve facial circulation and promote lymphatic drainage. This practice involves gently scraping the skin of the face using a smooth-edged tool, typically made from jade, rose quartz, or other semi-precious stones. Unlike body Gua Sha, which involves more intense scraping to release muscle tension and improve circulation, facial Gua Sha is much gentler and specifically tailored for the delicate skin of the face.
Combining Facial Gua Sha with Facial Acupuncture enhances circulation by promoting blood flow through gentle scraping and stimulating specific points with fine needles, boosts collagen production through mechanical stimulation and the body's natural healing processes, improves lymphatic drainage by reducing puffiness and aiding fluid balance and toxin removal, provides a holistic approach to relaxation and stress relief by balancing the body's energy and offering a soothing experience, and allows for customisable treatments tailored by certified practitioners to address unique skin concerns like aging, acne, or overall dullness, ensuring comprehensive skincare.
How does Facial Gua Sha work
Facial Gua Sha works by using gentle, upward scraping motions to stimulate the skin and underlying tissues. Some areas of treatment may include:
- Neck: Using upward strokes from the base of the neck to the jawline to encourage lymphatic drainage.
- Jawline and Cheeks: Gentle scraping motions from the center of the chin along the jawline towards the ears and from the sides of the nose towards the temples for the cheeks.
- Eye Area: Light, gentle, sweeping motions are used from the inner corner of the eye to the temple.
- Forehead: Starting from the center of the forehead, the tool is moved outwards towards the temples.
Gua Sha on these areas help to increase blood flow, promote lymphatic drainage, reduce puffiness, and improve skin tone and texture. Regular sessions can also help minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by promoting collagen production.
Benefits of Facial Gua Sha
